Why we started
Energy got complicated. Solar became mainstream, batteries got cheaper, and tariffs now depend on the time of day. Most people haven't got time to sit and work out what's what.
We thought it was all too complex. So we built Vimma to do the working out for you, and to install the kit properly once you've decided.
Why we design the battery first
Solar panels make electricity when the sun's out. Grid electricity is cheapest overnight. Neither is much use to you if there's nowhere to put it.
A battery fixes that. It stores energy when it's cheapest and holds your solar until you need it. It puts you in control of when you buy, use or export. That maximises savings without the faff.
We size the battery first. Not every home is suitable for solar, but almost every home can benefit from off-peak savings with a battery. If you can add solar, even better. Generate your own energy, cut those bills further, and earn export income.
Want solar or an EV charger? Good. We'll design the system so it all works together, configured to maximise savings and controlled through a single app.
Not sure about solar or an EV yet? That's fine. A battery on its own still saves you money, and you can add panels or a charger later.
Who we are
Vimma was founded by Thomas Newby and Matthew Morgan.
Between them they've been installing energy systems since 2010, and have delivered thousands of installations over their careers. Vimma is the business they built to do it the way they always thought it should be done. Simple, hassle-free, no jargon, installed properly, and honest about what you'll actually save.
How we work
We design in house. Your system is sized and specified by us, not by a call centre working from a script.
We install using tradespeople we've vetted ourselves. Every installer we use is checked, and we don't hand you over to them and disappear.
We stay responsible. From your first Estimate to the day it's handed over, you deal with Vimma. One point of contact, whatever happens.

Our HQ is in Yorkshire, and we install across the UK mainland.
